I learned a lot about synthetic motor oil working on this one, that will help the next/first time I change my own oil. I also learned a lot about producing my own spots (re: tight budgets). From casting to buying the right plants for the inside of a garage (client had to have the greenery!) to entertaining the talent (she was entertaining me) to directing the VO session, I find that every time I do one of these, I pick up a new trick that I get to bring to the next.
This project was wide in scope – we had to touch on a number of products in the line, giving each it’s own unique moment to shine, in a short video. We came up with custom backgrounds, animations, transitions, etc. The end result was exactly what the client was looking for and another spot that was fun to tackle, in spite of our restrictions.
